COURSE DESCRIPTION: This course is designed to acquaint students with the structure and function of the human body. An integrated presentation of the anatomy and physiology of organ systems is given.

COURSE OBJECTIVES (Learning Outcomes):

After completing this course, students will be able to:

1.      Describe the major organ systems of the human body

2.      Explain how those organ systems work

3.      Explain how many disease processes interfere with normal function

4.      Explain how the body defends against disease

5.      Identify and explain the inter-relatedness of the body’s systems

ASSESSMENT:

The student’s attainment of the learning outcomes will be assessed in the following ways:

The student’s understanding of the terminology, concepts, and theory of human anatomy and physiology will be measured through weekly quizzes, three exams, each covering one-third of the course, and weekly written assignments.

ASSIGNMENTS:

IMPORTANT! Students are expected to read the material in the text OUTSIDE OF CLASS.

Students will be expected to complete assigned readings and written assignments by their due dates.
