COURSE OBJECTIVES:

By the end of the course, the student should:

understand and apply the elements of philosophical inquiry

be familiar with the origins and development of western philosophy from ancient times to the present

understand the major categories of philosophical thought, major philosophers and their work

appreciate the relevance of philosophy to our professional, personal and social lives

ASSIGNMENTS AND GRADING:: Each week the student will have assigned readings from the texts, online sources, and/or handouts as well philosophical questions to ponder and answer.

The student's grade will be based on the thought, depth and completeness of answers in addition to three quizzes.
